Lawmakers eye higher beer tax – Tue, 06 Apr 2010 PST
OLYMPIA – Hold on to your six-packs: Democratic lawmakers are considering a tax increase on mass-market beer , betting that suds drinkers won’t mind paying a little more to bail out a busted state budget. The idea surfaced publicly Monday as part of a new tax proposal from the state Senate, which is negotiating a budget-balancing plan with the House and Gov. Chris Gregoire.

Beer rules could be loosened at Colo. state fair (Vail Daily)
DENVER – Beer drinkers at the Colorado State Fair could get more freedom under a proposal advancing in the state Legislature. A bill headed to the House for a vote would end the fair’s ban on open containers of alcohol outside vendor areas. Currently beer drinkers at the fair are confined to beer tents.
